Lamont Smith (MPA ’07) recently joined The Nature Conservancy in Wisconsin as Milwaukee Program Manager, a new position. He previously worked as a senior analyst with the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, where he conducted policy research and contributed to local planning efforts to increase the impact of community-based programs and advocacy efforts that support neighborhoods and families, and strengthen water sustainability and access to water industry careers.
Lamont's professional interests include identifying and applying emergent approaches, practices, technical tools, and methods to create better social and economic experiences for people and communities seeking equity. He has expertise in budgeting, public finance, program design, implementation and evaluation, grant program compliance and data and policy analysis.
After a short discussion about his career, Lamont answers questions from students during a 30-minute Q&A session. Cartecia Lawrence, a student in the La Follette School's MPA program, moderates the discussion.
