On April 6, 2013, the 16th annual Charlotte Zolotow Award celebration was held on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Prior to the presentation of the 2013 Zolotow Award to Jacqueline Woodson for her picture book "Each Kindness," CCBC librarian Megan Schliesman reflected on the picture books of Charlotte Zolotow. This presentation is part of the CCBC's 50th anniversary observances in 2013. The Charlotte Zolotow Award is sponsored by the Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC) of the School of Education at the UW-Madison to recognize outstanding writing in a picture book for young children. The award is named for distinguished children's writer and book editor Charlotte Zolotow, an alumna of UW-Madison.
