From Laura Peck
Swedish artist, Sofia Hagström Møller, will present her artistic work in the field of weaving. Hagström Møller will show images from previous projects that have been important in her process, and how she uses her teaching workshops in weaving and dyeing as an active link between her own works of art and the dissemination of weaving traditions.
Hagström Møller will also discuss how she has collaborated with Professor of Textiles, Marianne Fairbanks, and about her residency in 2020 hosted by Weaving Lab here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Scandinavian weaving traditions are key to her inspiration and she will show how she has used these processes and techniques to communicate her own personal stories.
This event is in conjunction with, Sofia Hagström Møller: Lineage, an exhibition with the Center for Design and Material Culture in the Lynn Mecklenburg Textile Gallery. This project was made possible with financial support from the Danish Art Foundation, the National Bank of Denmark, and the Grosserer L. F. Foghts Foundation.
