Adam Rule, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Information School who studies human-computer interaction, meaning how to design computing systems to better fit human needs, values, and desires. More specifically, he  studies how people tell stories with documents that mix text and data. In this lecture he provides an overview of his research looking at how clinicians write progress notes (i.e., notes that summarize patient visits) using templates that simultaneously insert patient data and descriptive text.  He provides interesting data on note length, note redundancy, as well as template and copy-paste usage.
