When Hoboken Public Library began conducting regular shelter outreach
visits in 2022, we learned more about our patrons’ critical social
service needs. In partnership with local government and nonprofits, our
Social Work Team began providing assistance both in the library and on
the road. We created Project ID, an initiative to help patrons obtain
their state ID and vital documents. We also distributed Community Care
Kits, including Life-Saving Kits and Code Blue Kits. Join us as we
discuss the importance of having Social Workers in Libraries, provide
the roadmap for implementing these important initiatives for our at-risk
community members, and hear first-hand success stories from our patrons
and partners!
