Overview: PEOPLE Social Studies Enrichment

The Social Studies Enrichment Program is a Parallel Curriculum for PEOPLE students developed to promote academic independence in their public school classrooms, awareness of their cultural surroundings, and empowerment within their communities.

Social Studies Enrichment Activities have been organized according to secondary school grade level and possible classroom topics. Participants will complete enrichment projects that most closely match their current grade level and classroom course.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (Grades 7-8)
  • U.S. History (pre-1600 to Post-Civil War)
HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 9-12)
  • Grade 9: U.S. History (Post-Civil War to WW II)
  • Grade 10: World/Western History (Early Civilizations to Post-WW II)
  • Grade 11-12 Elective: U.S. Modern History (Intermediate Level)
  • Grade 11-12 Elective: U.S. Government (Intermediate-Advanced Level)
  • Grade 11-12 Elective: Modern African American Experience (Advanced Level)
  • Grade 11-12 Elective: Introduction to Psychology (Advanced Level)
